Safe Harbor by Jonathan Gardner

Growing up in South Louisiana, I spent a lot of time on the water. While the Pacific Northwest is many miles away from where I grew up, it is the water that keeps me close to my roots.

I recently drove past the Shilshole Marina in Seattle on my way to Golden Gardens Park. While I was in the park to photograph the sunrise, I kept looking at the way the rough waters of the sound calmed when they hit the jetty. I took a few images from the shore but was never satisfied with the pictures.

I went home a slept on it a few nights. After a few nights, I realized I needed a change in perspective. There is no better way to change perspective than go up in the air.
